Any DVD-R or DVD-RW having the appropriate software will get you there.

If it is not a copyrighted material, it can be done by various free DVD copy software such as the one provided by copy-to-dvdcpm.

Nero does offer a good start as long as your optical drive is DVD RW drive (+, -, or +/-), the optical disc is compatiable, and the software is DVD RW software.

Nero will not let you copy copyrighted DVD movies. And yes, copying copyrighted DVD's is against the law. But in my opinions, if you copy a copyrighted movie for your own personal use (backup, etc...) is not against the law. By the way you can use CloneDVD with AnyDVD to copy any movie you want. Visit the following site for more information. You can also search for a program called www.copy-to-dvd.com- its free copy dvd software. At least the basic functions are free.
